GLEN TANAR ESTATE
The Glen Tanar 25,000-acre estate sits inside the Cairngorms National Park and has been with the Coats family since 1905. Here, people are welcome to explore nature, and the estate is home to a herd of traditional highland cattle. They graze in fields near he road and support local farmers with livestock.
It houses the third largest native Caledonia pinewood in Scotland, and the wildlife is at the heart of Glen Tanar. From deer to bees, they recognize that each animal has a vital role in a balanced ecosystem. The estate is home to various protected animals, such as red squirrels, Scottish crossbills, hares, capercaillie, ospreys and golden eagles.
There are areas closed to protect the wildlife, so please follow the guided path, always stay on the track and do not drive off into the wild.

BALLATER AND
THE BALMORAL ARMS
Located within the Aberdeenshire, around one-hour drive west of Aberdeen and the coast, Ballater has been a spot to visit for over 250 years. First as a spa resort and today for its accessibility to nature and hiking. The Munroes (Scottish for mountains) are almost everywhere, and the River Dee is world-known for its salmon fishing.
Ballater is known not only for hiking and fishing but also for its neighbours: The residence of the British royal family, the Balmoral Castle, is just a short drive away.
